Verkhovna Rada Committee asks deputies to release Ukraine of CIS membership

The members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee have reviewed the draft resolution to terminate the membership and participation of Ukraine in the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States and decided to recommend the Parliament to support the draft resolution given the changes and additions proposed by the Committee. Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Verkhovna Rada website.

The Draft Decree provides for the termination of membership and participation of Ukraine in the bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The Committee believes that the adoption of this bill will protect Ukraine's national interests and enhance the credibility of Ukraine in the world as a state that is involved only in effective and useful international cooperation.

The Committee members believe that one of the ways to achieve this is the termination of membership and participation of Ukraine in the organs of the international organization which does not fulfill its tasks and has discredited itself for lack of any reaction due to the gross violations of the Agreement by one of its founders – the Russian Federation.
