President Poroshenko doubts UN Security Council effectiveness

President of Ukraine Poroshenko believes that in this issue it is needed to be straightforward and explicit. The conflict in eastern Ukraine has demonstrated ineffectiveness of the post-war security system, including the UN Security Council. According to the Ukrainian leader, this is because of the fact that the aggressor country has the right to veto in the organization, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the foreign news.

At this stage, the main task is to build a new system that will be able to stop the development of the dangerous situation in the world. This is the opinion of President Poroshenko.

Earlier, the UN Security Council has repeatedly discussed the conflict situation in the Ukrainian Donbas. Thus, the Russian Federation still has the right to veto the decision of the Council and it is very difficult to deprive it of this right.

Earlier, the leader of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski also said that Russia had to be deprived of the right of veto in the organization. However, under the Charter of the Organization, all members of the Security Council as well as 2/3 of the members of the UN General Assembly must vote for such a decision. But it is impossible, since in this case the Russian Federation will also have to vote for depriving itself of this right.
