President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko welcomed the Ukraine Freedom Support Act adopted by the U.S. Congress, introduced in Congress during the visit of President of Ukraine to the United States on September 18, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Presidential Administration.
Ukrainian President expressed his hope that in the near future this important piece of legislation would be signed by U.S. President Barack Obama testifying that the American people are in sympathy with Ukraine.
The two sides exchanged views on the financial mechanism to support Ukraine. Joseph Biden has reiterated the intention of the United States to help Ukraine, and the willingness to make efforts to provide funding through the International Monetary Fund.
President Poroshenko won additional support of the Vice President Biden in the implementation of the peace plan for conflict settlement in Donbas and cooperation to overcome Ukraine's economic challenges.
Yesterday President Poroshenko spoke with Merkel and Hollande about the increase of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
