According to joinfo.ua, EU countries are ready to prohibit their citizens to make any business investment in the annexed peninsula. In particular, it is referred to a ban on purchase or financing of the Crimean companies. Companies registered in the EU will lose the right to control the tourist industry on the peninsula. In addition, EU citizens will not be able to purchase financial companies in Crimea. Moreover, in Crimea there will be prohibited to sell technology for oil and gas exploration.
"The sale, supply, transfer or export of goods and technology …should be prohibited," the draft document says. The ban covers the areas of transport, telecommunications, energy and oil, gas, minerals and manufacturing.
So far, it is unknown whether European officials have time to finish their work on the document before the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the EU countries.
The draft document of the EU Summit to be held on December 18 tells about "non-recognition of illegal annexation of Crimea by the EU" and the willingness of the European Union to impose new sanctions against Russia.
Previously, Angela Merkel said that sanctions against Russia could be strengthened.
