The chairman of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity believes the Church should play an important role in reconciliation in Ukraine.

Vatican City calls on the Moscow Patriarchate to the dialogue for peace in Ukraine. This was stated by President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Kurt Koch. In the air of the Polish radio station Cardinal said that the Church should play an important role in reconciliation:

"The situation in Ukraine is very serious, so the relationship between our Churches should improve. Orthodox and Catholics have to become witnesses of reconciliation. We should not compete with each other and fight, we can help to achieve peace in Ukraine."

In Warsaw, Cardinal Kurt Koch, met with the representatives of the Christian churches, which are part of the Polish Ecumenical Council.
