The Warsaw Forum, which will last 2 days, will be participated by the defense and foreign ministers of the EU countries. Cazimir Pulaski Foundation and the Academy of National Defence are the organizers of the Warsaw Security Forum (WSF). The Forum is held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland. The Head of the National Security Bureau Stanisław Koziej reported that President Bronislaw Komorowski would take part in the conference, joinfo.ua reports.
The conference will discuss the issues of international security in the military, economic and energy measurement, with a particular emphasis on security in Europe and its Central Eastern subregion. According to the organizers of the Forum, it will be attended by foreign ministers, defense ministers and security advisers to the heads of the EU states, as well as experts. Conclusions of the discussion will be the base for effective EU policy development in relation to potential threats.
The conference will be attended by the former Foreign Minister, Co-Chair of the Polish-Russian Group for Difficult Issues, Professor Andrew Mikht from Washington Center for Strategic and International Studies, former Foreign Minister Boris Tarasyuk, Professor Norman Davis from the British Academy, David Bohan from Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, the head of the demosEuropa center Pavel Swieboda and many other experts in the field of security.
The discussion will focus, in particular, on the future of NATO and transatlantic relations, modernization of the Polish Army, cybersecurity, terrorism, energy solidarity in Europe, and the relations between the EU, Russia and NATO. The Forum begins the discussion entitled "Strategic Directions for European Security" with the participation of top-level representatives from Poland, France, Romania and Slovakia, who are responsible for security matters. It will be opened by the Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski.
However, the head of the National Security Bureau Stanisław Koziej said that the challenges facing European security in the context of the EU Summit would also be discussed at the summit in June 2015, which will focus on the joint security and defense policy. As he said, the meeting will consist of two parts – a public debate during the Forum and talks behind closed doors at the Presidential Palace. "I will talk about how to create the conditions for starting the process of strategic reflection on security, so that during the June summit we could begin working on the novelization of the EU preservation," he informed.
Speaking on how he assesses the chances of preparing a new European strategy Koziej said that this year they have grown every week. "Now it is important that the report prepared by the head of the Unitarian diplomacy Federica Mogherini for the June summit is not only a bureaucratic document. It is important to debate on European security within the work on this document. Based on the conversations held in recent months with our foreign partners it becomes clearly necessary," evaluates Koziej.
The organizers emphasize that the WSF 2014 is aimed to provide a platform for discussion of experts and managers involved in international security issues, particularly in the context of relations between the EU, NATO and Russia. In addition, it is aimed to promote Poland as a country, which is responsible for security policy in the region and its international dimension forms.
