German Chancellor proposes to include the "heads" of DPR and LPR in the EU sanction list.

Merkel excludes the possibility of easing sanctions against Russia

On Wednesday, November 5, the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel said that she sees no way to ease economic sanctions against Russia due to the crisis in Ukraine and the "elections" in the DPR and LPR. It was reported by Reuters.

She added that the "black list" of the European Union might include the separatist leaders chosen in the "elections" in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions occupied by the militants.

"There is no possibility of alleviating or lifting sanctions that have been imposed," she said, urging respect for the Minsk cease-fire agreement reached in September, which Berlin says was violated by the elections in rebel-held eastern Ukraine.

"We should look once again at the list of people who now have positions of responsibility in eastern Ukraine thanks to those illegitimate elections," Merkel said. "Apart from that, we should maintain the sanctions that we have."

It is to be recalled that November 2, the "elections" of the illegal authorities of the DPR and LPR took place. As reported on Tuesday, the election observers turned out to be "international recidivists."

Ukraine, the United States and the EU do not recognize the "elections" in DPR / LPR. However, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the "elections" in Donbas valid.
