It was stated by the official representative of German government, Georg Streiter at a press conference on Friday in Berlin.
"The federal government will not recognize these illegitimate elections," said Streiter.
He stressed that the so-called "elections" in the east of Ukraine contradict the provisions of the Minsk Agreement dated September 5 and exacerbate the conflict.
According to him, it was discussed before and during the conference call in the "Norman format" with the participation of the Chancellor of Germany, French President Francois Hollande, Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. "The Federal Chancellor and the French President emphasized that the elections could take place only in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation," added Streiter.
Streiter also informed that all four leaders welcomed the achievement of agreement on gas yesterday in Brussels.
According to the representative of the German government, on Thursday, Angela Merkel held a separate telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. According to Streiter, the Chancellor stressed the need for the rapid formation of a new government in Ukraine and welcomed plans to solidify the continuation of policy reforms in the coalition agreement.
