It was reported by Polish Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz on the local TV channel. According to her, the spy scandal flared up, but the "expulsion" of diplomats is the normal procedure.
Last week Polish media was distributing information about a senior officer of the Ministry of Defense of Poland and a lawyer with the Polish and Russian citizenship, who had intended to become a member of the Sejm, suspected of spying and detained.
The decision regarding expulsion may be made on October 21. The number of suspected "spies" is not specified.
Earlier, the newspaper "Rzeczpospolita" reported that the Polish authorities were going to send not only Russian diplomats out of the country, but also Russian citizens living and working in Poland, as well as Russian journalists.
As it is known, the European Union also intends to take measures concerning Russian diplomats engaged in clandestine actions on the territories of the Western states. According to foreign press data, received from the French counter-intelligence service, the number of Russian intelligence agencies has increased by several times in recent years, which is also associated with the situation in Ukraine.
About 40 special agents, working in diplomatic offices in Europe, in fact, are subject to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia and veil their activities by the diplomatic status.
