The Parliament must vote for the law allowing to hold trials in absentia, said the head of the state.
President Poroshenko intends to introduce to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on absentee conviction of persons who can not be delivered to Ukraine.
He stated it during a press conference.
"Why are Zakharchenko, Klymenko, Yanukovych not punished?.. First, I was always opposed to the trials in absentia, but today I am ready to step back and introduce a bill making it possible to hold trials in absentia in such special cases," he said.
According to the President, the Verkhovna Rada should support such a law.
"The Parliament must vote for the law that would allow to conduct such transparent trials in absentia… The Law of Ukraine will decide that they should be condemned for the fact that Ukraine is in such a condition", said the head of state.
