Obama has no plans to meet with President Vladimir Putin

U.S. President Barack Obama does not take the initiative to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting may take place in September during the UN General Assembly.

The meeting of presidents of Russia and the U.S. is not planned, says the head of the Kremlin administration, Sergei Ivanov, Joinfo.ua reports referring to RIA Novosti.

“As far as I know, so far the meeting of (Barack) Obama and Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin – Ed.) is not planned,” said Ivanov.

Asked whether there is being planned a meeting between Putin and Poroshenko, Ivanov said, “I do not know.”

Russia has not sent a request to the White House for a meeting of Putin and Obama. Acording to the presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, there have not been reported any requests from the American side, too. Ushakov told about the possibility of a meeting between the two presidents in September on the sidelines of UN General Assembly in New York.

In addition, the presidential aide said that Russia did not give up on any contacts. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has previously noted that the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UN would be held if Washington gave a corresponding message.

As it is known, the session with the participation of Heads of State and Government and Foreign Ministers will last from September 28 to October 3, it will be opened by Brazil. Then there will speak the U.S., Poland, China, Jordan and Russia – it will speak as sixth on the first day of debate. Before that, President Vladimir Putin spoke the UN General Assembly in 2000, 2003 and 2005.

By the way, the previous conversation was initiated by the Russian side at the end of June. Before it there was a four-month break. Back then Obama said he was encouraged by Putin’s call, during which they discussed Syria and Ukraine. The last personal contact between the two leaders took place at the G20 summit held in Australia last spring.

Earlier we reported that before the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to New York for the 70th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian Navy submarine was spotted by the U.S. military off the coast of Georgia, near the base of the U.S. Navy Kings Bay, where six Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines are deployed, Fox News informs referring to the sources in the Pentagon.

“The Pentagon is tracking the movement of the Russian intel ship, while it remains in international waters,” the U.S. Department of Defense informs. The Russian submarine has been identified in the North Atlantic back in the last month, since then it has been closely monitored by the U.S. military satellites.

According to the Pentagon, the Russian submarine is carrying out exploration. At the moment the submarine is 300 miles away from the coast of the United States and is heading towards Cuba.
