Washington sets up a monument to victims of Holodomor in Ukraine

The project planned back in 2006, is implemented. On August 4, in Washington was set up a monument to the victims of Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.

On August 4, in the heart of the United States of America, in Washington, was set up a monument of culture in honor of the victims of the 1932-1933 Holodomor in Ukraine. The memorial was established near the Capitol, reports Joinfo.ua, referring to the press center of the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.

The landmark event of opening of the monument was attended by representatives of the companies Forrester and Laran Bronze, who have made the sculpture out of bronze. Also, the event was attended by Valery Chaly, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, and Larissa Kurilas, the author of the cultural-historical project.

The press service also reports that in 2006 it was decided to erect the monument in the District of Columbia. The project was executed in close cooperation with the Ukrainian community.

The official inauguration of the monument to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine is scheduled for November 7, 2015.
