A short circuit was discovered in Curiosity's robotic drill arm at the moment when it was trying to transport rock samples after drilling.

Currently, NASA engineers are clarifying the causes of the failure. It may take up to several days to eliminate the problem. The experts note there are no reasons for concern about the future of the mission.

NASA's Curiosity Mars rover was launched to Mars on November 26, 2011 with the help of the Atlas V 541 carrier rocket from the launch site at Cape Canaveral in Florida. Its landing on the planet took place on August 6, 2012 in the vicinity of the Gale crater. This is the third rover, launched by NASA in the framework of the Mars Science Laboratory program.

Out of the more than 40 probes flown away to Mars, less than half completed their mission successfully. Currently on the Martian surface there are operating two rovers: Curiosity and Opportunity.
