October 15, the Estonian Parliament (Riigikogu) will discuss the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, reports Postimees.
On Monday, the Riigikogu Foreign Affairs Committee decided to pass the bill on ratification of the Association Agreements of Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine with the EU to the first reading at the Riigikogu plenary session, which will be held October 15.
"Estonia supports integration of these countries into the economic and legal environment of the EU. Association Agreements and Free Trade Agreements are the turning points for Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, being of great importance for the development and consolidation of the democratic sovereignty of these countries," said the Chairman of the Riigikogu Foreign Affairs Committee Marko Mihkelson.
According to him, Estonia and other EU member states are willing to provide support and assistance for the undertakings of the countries to implement the reforms necessary for the rapid implementation of Association Agreements paragraphs.
"The situation in Ukraine is particularly difficult for obvious reasons, as besides carrying out large-scale reforms, Kyiv needs to maintain the sovereign control over its territories," said Mihkelson.
It is to be recalled, September 16, the Verkhovna Rada and the European Parliament simultaneously ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
