Sergey Aksyonov, the head of the occupational authorities of Crimea, proposed to ban the celebration of Halloween in all schools and educational institutions of republic, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference to Russian media.
“I believe that all the activities related to Halloween must be prohibited in schools. Education Ministry of the Republic of Crimea has to come up with an appropriate recommendation,”- he said. Aksyonov also added that teachers and psychologists worry, that these games can be dangerous for children’s fragile minds.
He added that the promotion of “the dark traditions of Halloween” is aimed at undermining Russia’s traditional spiritual and moral values.
“This is a disgusting mask show is a contrary to the spiritual and cultural traditions of the peoples of Russia. In recent decades, this “holiday” has spread far beyond the English-speaking countries, and not by an accident. On the one hand, it is certainly a commercial project, but on the other – a means of cultural colonization, “- said Aksenov.
It is not the first attempt to limit the celebration of Halloween in Russia In 2014, MP Georgy Fedorov addressed to the Ministry of Culture with a request to estimate the holiday, as well as to recommend the institutions to refrain from entertaining events on Halloween. The ministry responded that the entertainment Halloween events are carried out in institutions outside the control of the Culture Ministry – in cafes and restaurants.
