Russia’s hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 48 times in the past 24 hours, using banned artillery systems, with two Ukrainian soldiers reported as wounded in action, according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
The Luhansk sector was the epicenter of hostilities, namely 27 militant attacks were reported there. The situation remains hottest in the area of the Bakhmutka highway where the illegal armed groups repeatedly fired 120mm and 82mm mortars and 122mm artillery systems on the Ukrainian positions near the village of Krymske. In the evening, the militants opened fire from mortars on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the villages of Novotoshkivske, Novo-Oleksandrivka, Novozvanivka, as well as the towns of Schastia and Popasna. During the day, the enemy also used infantry weapons near the villages of Lobacheve and Nyzhnioteple, and Donets station.
In the Mariupol sector, after the morning’s attacks on the ATO positions stationed near the villages of Shyrokyne and Vodiane, from 122mm artillery systems, the invaders almost did not use weapons throughout the day. However, they became active again after dark. In particular, the militants fired 120mm mortars on the Ukrainian strongholds near the village of Lebedynske, as well as 82mm mortars on the ATO positions near the village of Talakivka. The Russian-backed illegal armed formations repeatedly opened fire on the Ukrainian strongholds near the villages of Shyrokyne, Hnutove, Pavlopil, Bohdanivka, and Novotroyitske, using small arms and grenade launchers of various modifications. In total, 13 armed provocations against the ATO forces were recorded in this part of the front line in the past day.
In the Donetsk sector, before dawn, the occupiers fired antitank grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms on the Ukrainian strongholds news the villages of Kam’ianka and Novoselivka Druha. There was a relative calm in the daytime. However, in the evening, the militants shelled one of the ATO positions near the village of Zaitseve from 82mm mortars. A bit later, they used grenade launchers and small arms of various calibers three times to shell the southern outskirts of the Ukrainian controlled town of Avdiyivka. The defenders of the villages of Pisky came under fire from the same weapons.
