Russia’s hybrid military forces lobbed over 60 mortar shells into Ukrainian army positions near the village of Krymske in Luhansk region, Donbas, in the past day, according to a Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman for Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) issues, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
“The hottest spot in the Luhansk sector yesterday was near Krymske where over 60 shells were fired at ATO positions in the past day. The enemy was most active in the daytime. The fire was opened from the eastern direction,” spokesman Oleksandr Motuzianyk said at a briefing on Tuesday, June 20.
“Some other instances of the violation of the ceasefire by Russian occupying forces were recorded near the town of Schastia in Popasna district and in the village of Stanytsia Luhanska,” he said.
The press center of the ATO Headquarters wrote on Facebook earlier on Tuesday that there had been 43 enemy attacks on Ukrainian troops in the past 24 hours. Four Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in action.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that within the framework of his working visit to Washington he will hold a number of important meetings with the leadership of the United States, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
“We will have a fantastic program. It is very important that my meeting as the Ukrainian president at the White House will take place earlier than Putin’s meeting. This will be done to ensure that everyone stays tuned, so that no one has a chance of injustice,” the president said while talking to the Ukrainian community in Washington.
He said that during the visit he would meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, as well as the leadership of the Defense Ministry, the Ministry of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Energy.
“There has never been such a powerful visit. It is important for us to have an opportunity to talk about our cooperation in the sphere of security, politics and economy,” Poroshenko said.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, on Tuesday morning, the Ukrainian president will meet with U.S. Vice President Michael Pence, after which he will hold talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. In addition, on the same day, the Ukrainian president will hold talks with Defense Minister James Mattis, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim.
It is expected that after negotiations with Trump, Poroshenko will talk with the media representatives.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko says that the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement will pass the last procedure for ratification this week and will enter into force on September 1. He noted this during the first day of his working visit to Washington, according to Ukrinform.
“I am flying from Washington to Brussels to take part in the transfer of ratification certificates signed by His Majesty the King of the Netherlands. This is the last country that completes the ratification process. And since September 1 Ukraine has the great honor with the Association Agreement entering into force,” the Head of the Ukrainian state said.
The President of Ukraine on June 19 began a visit to the United States, during which he met with the top leaders of the countries.
