Russia’s hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 18 times on June 16, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action, according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
The largest number of enemy’s violations of the ceasefire was recorded in the Mariupol sector. Afternoon, the militants fired 120mm mortar on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Bohdanivka. Later, they used 82mm mortars, tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns, and heavy machine guns against the defenders of the town of Krasnohorivka. In addition, the invaders repeatedly opened fire from grenade launchers and small arms of various calibers on the ATO strongholds near the villages of Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Pavlopil, and Chermalyk.
In the Donetsk sector, the town of Avdiyivka remained to be a hot spot, where the enemy intensively shelled the Ukrainian fortified positions, using tanks and 120mm mortars. The Ukrainian soldiers near the village of Kam’ianka came under fire from heavy machine guns. The Russian-backed militants also fired grenade launchers of various modifications on the Ukrainian positions stationed near the village of Pisky from the vicinities of the temporarily occupied Donetsk.
Less powerful armed provocations were recorded in the Luhansk sector. In the morning, the militants opened fire from grenade launchers and heavy machine guns on the Ukrainian soldiers near the village of Novotoshkivka. An enemy sniper was also active there. Moreover, the militants used the antitank missile system against theATO positions near the village of Krymske.
Ukraine’s Anna Pysmenska has won the gold medal in women’s 3m springboard at the European Diving Championships 2017 that takes place in Kyiv, according to Ukrinform.
The athlete got gold with a total of 303.30 points in a thrilling competition. Michelle Heimberg, Switzerland,got silver with 293.25 points, and Anastasiia Nedobiga, Ukraine, won bronze with 291.65 points.
“I’m very happy. Beforehand I won medals only in synchronized diving events, today this was my first individual medal. When I saw my coach, she smiled. In that very moment I knew I won. My parents have always supported me, I owe this gold to them. The competition was strong but today I managed to perform 90 percent of my dives right and got more points than expected. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here at the pool,” Anna Pysmenska said.
The team of Ukraine has already won seven awards – three “gold”, two “silver” and two “bronze”.
It should be recalled that Ukrainian Illya Kvasha won the gold medal of the European Diving Championships in the men’s one meter springboard.
