President of the European Council Donald Tusk has said that the European Union and the United States will continue their common sanctions policy toward Russia, according to UNIAN.
“My impression of that when it comes to conflict in Ukraine we were more or less on the same line with President Trump and Secretary Tillerson. Of course, maybe I’m less optimistic when it comes to President Putin’s plans and intentions, maybe less sentimental,” Tusk said at a joint press briefing with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker ahead of the G7 summit in Taormina, Italy, on May 26, 2017.
“But anyway, my reflection is that on Ukraine we can find a common position with the United States. And as for now, I think that it’s a realistic assessment that we can continue our common policy towards Russia, including sanctions and Minsk agreements,” he added.
The situation in the zone of the Anti-Terrorist Operation remains difficult, with the signs of escalation at certain sectors of the contact line, the ATO press center wrote on Facebook, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
Over the past day, pro-Russian armed militant groups opened fire 57 times on the ATO forces, with the increased use of heavy artillery, banned under the Minsk Agreements. The militants attacked 29 times the Ukrainian troops in the Primorske direction. In Donetsk direction, 26 violations by militants of ceasefire agreements were recorded.
The situation remains most tense in the suburbs of Avdiyivka. Last night, the area near Luhanske and the Svitlodarska bulge also saw escalation. Illegal armed formations over the past day attacked only two times in the Luhansk direction. “As a result of hostilities in the past day, five troops of the Armed Forces have been wounded in action,” the report said.
All the components were produced in Ukraine
Ukraine has tested the latest home-made rocket. This was reported by Ukrainian president on his Facebook page.
The rocket is designed to hit different types of targets. Warhead, engine and control system of the rocket are of Ukrainian production. Over 10 enterprises of Ukrainian defense industry were involved in its manufacturing. The trials showed high precision and reliability of the control system of the rocket.
“Successful testing of the latest Ukrainian rocket has just taken place. All the components are domestically produced. This is our common success! I wish it will be put into service for Ukrainian army as soon as possible,” president wrote.
