In the south-eastern regions of Ukraine, 34% of citizens believe that Donbas should be returned under the control of the Ukrainian state, and only 2% support joining Russia, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Ukrinform.
Executive Director of the Institute of Mass Information Oksana Romaniuk said this during the International Conference “Reintegration of Donbas amid Hybrid War”, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“As for the scenario for the occupied Donbas, the majority of residents still support reintegration with Ukraine, 34% of citizens believe that Donbas should be returned. Many people support different options for UKRAINE autonomy and only 2%, that is, at the level of statistical error, support integration into Russia,” she said.
In addition, according to the Executive Director of the IMI, 86% of residents of the southern and eastern regions said that they consider themselves to be Ukrainians, the citizens of Ukraine, and 86% of respondents feel comfortable when they write or receive information in the Ukrainian language.
Romaniuk added that the poll was conducted from February to March of this year in the southern and eastern regions of Ukraine, including the occupied territories.
A U.S. court has remanded 29-year old Kyiv native Vadym Yermolovych to prison for 30 months (2.5 years) for participating in a large hacker attack involving stocks, according to the U.S. Justice Department, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.
The U.S. Justice Deparment said Yermolovych pleaded guilty to involvement in the hacking of Marketwired, PR Newswire in New York, and Business Wire of San Francisco from 2010 through March 2013.
“Yermolovych also admitted that he sold press releases stolen from the network intrusion into Marketwired, and purchased access into Business Wire’s network, all in furtherance of a larger conspiracy to profit from the stolen draft press releases,” the Justice Department said.
According to the ruling, the Kyiv-native is obliged to pay $3 million in restitution.
