The Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Valeria Gontareva, has officially announced her resignation, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
The announcement was made during a Monday press conference in Kyiv. As UNIAN reported, head of the NBU in early March confirmed rumors of her possible resignation, promising to officially warn the public a month prior to the actual date she intended to quit office.
The Verkhovna Rada on June 19, 2014, supported the proposal of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on the dismissal of Stepan Kubiv from the post of the NBU Governor and appoint to this position Valeria Gontareva.
According to the Constitution, the head of the NBU is appointed for a period of seven years by the Verkhovna Rada on the proposal of the President of Ukraine.

The largest number of violations was recorded in the Mariupol sector.

“The defenders of the villages of Troyitske, Krymske and Stanytsia Luhanska were attacked with grenade launchers of various types and heavy machine guns. Moreover, the defenders of the village of Novotoshkivske came under fire from heavy machine guns,” the ATO headquarters said.
It should be recalled that yesterday the ATO HQ reported that militants intensified shelling to 59 times on Saturday.
Direct passenger ferries have been launched between Odesa and Istanbul, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Andriy Sybiha has reported, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
“Turkey and Ukraine are becoming closer: today direct passenger ferries were launched between Haydarpasa terminal [Istanbul] and Odesa. The occupancy is 90%,” he wrote on his Twitter page.
Haydarpasa terminal is a railway station on the Asian part of Istanbul. It was built in 1906-1908 as the initial point of the Istanbul- Baghdad railway. The station services Asian suburbs of Istanbul and the entire eastern part of Turkey up to the borders with Armenia, Iran and Syria.
