As UNIAN reported, head of Ukraine’s State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov was detained on Thursday evening in the course of the investigation of the so-called Onyshchenko case conducted by the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Joinfo.com reports.
“The NABU is in Feofania now to detain Nasirov. He is charged with ‘restructuring’ for Onyshchenko,” the Verkhovna Rada member from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc parliamentary faction Leshchenko wrote on Facebook on Thursday evening.
On Thursday, the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Special Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine (SAPU) held a number of raids in the State Fiscal Service’s offices, including its head office.
The searches are part of an investigation into allegedly illegal decisions taken by Nasirov to restructure tax debts owed by companies affiliated with former MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko.
Ukrainska Pravda reported that Nasirov felt sick after the receiving the suspicion notice and was hospitalized.
Nasirov’s lawyers insist that the handing of the suspicion was illegal. They also confirmed the fact that Nasirov was in a hospital ward.
According to the Feofania hospital doctors, Nasirov has been diagnosed myocardial infarction.
The investigated MP Onyshchenko is a suspect in the embezzlement scheme for the mining and sale of natural gas under the contract on cooperation with JSC “Ukrgazvydobuvannya,” as a result of which the state suffered damage of about 3 billion hryvnias.
Nasirov has allegedly provided an installments of the tax debt for Onyshchenko’s enterprises.
