Danny Shervin is a painter who has taken to using gunpowder as his material of choice to create incredibly detailed works of art. His original artwork is based in nature, with images of owls, deer and other woodland animals, Mashable reports.
To share with the world the painstaking process of creating art with gunpowder, he has put together a Paint with Gunpowder YouTube.
As you can imagine, pushing and placing gunpowder to resemble landscapes isn’t easy. As it says on his website, each painting takes several hours to finish.
So imagine our surprise when he finishes each art piece, only to put a lighter to it. That’s right. He burns the gunpowder after he completes his work, and watching the slow burn is delightfully mesmerizing.
