This weekend Ukraine honors memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes on the anniversary of the mass shooting of the activists of the Revolution of Dignity that took place in the center of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on February 20,2014, Joinfo.com reports with reference to UNIAN.
The commemorative events will take place in Kyiv on February 18-22. Police and rescue services were put on combat alert due to a higher level of terrorist threat.
Head of Ukraine’s the State Emergency Service Mykola Chechetkin says that about 7,000 personnel and 2,000 units of equipment have been involved to ensure security in case of emergencies.
The capital’s law enforcers will install metal frames and detectors, as well as filtration roadblocks at the entrances to Kyiv.
On Saturday, February 18, a memorial procession to honor the heroes killed in the bloodiest days of the Maidan will be held from the Ukrainian House to Instytutska Street, where the deadly shooting took place.
On February 20, 2014, security forces killed the largest number of activists of the Revolution of Dignity. Some 73 civilians and 11 law enforcers were killed in the clashes in Kyiv on February 18-20 three years ago. As a result, the House of Trade Unions on the Maidan was burned and Kyiv Metro subway stopped operating in those days.

Ukrainian volunteer was killed as a result of shrapnel injuries near the village of Krymske in ATO area on February 17, according to the press center of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters, Joinfo.com reports.
“A Ukrainian volunteer, a representative of one of the national charities, was killed at about 16:30 near the village of Krymske on February 17. Soldiers knew him as a true patriot, devoted to the idea of independence of Ukraine. We express our condolences to the relatives of the deceased volunteer,” the press center posted on Facebook.
The ATO Headquarters also reported that militants launched 73 attacks on positions of the Ukrainian troops in Donbas. Four Ukrainian soldiers were wounded in action over the past day.
It should be recalled that two civilians were wounded as well in the town of Avdiyivka in Donbas. One Ukrainian soldier was killed and three wounded due to militant attacks in Donbas on February 17.
President Petro Poroshenko has stated that the appeasement policy will not stop the aggressor and any agreement with Russia behind Ukraine is impossible and will only aggravate the situation, Joinfo.com reports with reference to Ukrinform.
President Petro Poroshenko said this in the course of the panel discussion “The Future of the West: Downfall or Comeback?” at the 53rd Munich Security Conference, the press service of the Head of State reported.
“My message is simple – Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine! Any deal with Putin behind Ukraine would only aggravate the situation,” Poroshenko said.
The President noted that he received exact confirmation of unity and solidarity for the sake of peace speaking to new U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and hearing speeches by President of Poland Andrzej Duda and U.S. Senator John McCain.
“This is exactly what we need now. Supporting Ukraine is the only way to stop the ongoing aggression and bring Russia back to respecting the international law and the Global Order,” Petro Poroshenko stressed.
