“The Russian-occupation forces shelled the outskirts of Avdiyivka town with MLRS BM-21 Grad through the night [of January 31]. Currently, destruction and fire reported in a residential area of the city. Several houses were damaged. According to preliminary data, several local residents were wounded. The HQ said that the Russian occupants fired more than 80 rockets from the MLRS BM-21 Grad and 3 artillery shells of 152mm caliber toward the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 4 a.m. local time.

Meanwhile, the 72nd Guard Brigade reported that by 05:40 local time, the enemy fired 4 packages (160 rocket shells in total) from MLRS BM-21 Grad during the attack on Avdiyivka. Rebels were shooting from Donetsk city. According to Donetsk residents’ posts in social networks, 4 MLRS Grad conducted fire from four different points in residential areas of the city.
The report said 3 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 24 more wounded in the fighting.
The continuing shelling has left nearly 34,000 residents of Avdiyivka town cut off the power grids along with a halt to the heat and water supply amid bitter frosts about -20C at night.
