Members of Russian NGO Public Monitoring Commission of Moscow found Ukrainian Ukrinform news agency journalist Roman Sushchenko being remanded in custody at the Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility, UNAIN reports.
The Lefortovo court ruled to detain him on accusations of espionage (Article 276 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
At night, lawyer Mark Feygin arrived at the Moscow-based Lefortovo pre-trial detention facility to visit the detained Ukrainian journalist. The lawyer explained that he would protect Sushchenko at the request of the detainee’s wife and Ukrinform.
On Monday, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) accused Sushchenko of being a Ukrainian intelligence officer.
