Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is taking part in the ceremony, according to the president’s press service, UNIAN reports.
Poroshenko expressed his condolences to the leadership of the State of Israel, relatives of the deceased and the People of Israel “over the big loss of one of the founders of the State of Israel, a prominent Israeli statesman who devoted his entire life to serving his country.”
It is noted that the mourning ceremony will be attended by heads of states and governments, a large number of foreign politicians and public figures. In general, over 100 delegates from around the world are expected to come to Jerusalem on Friday.
According to the report, the ceremony will be attended by U.S. President Barack Obama and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Australia Malcolm Turnbull, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, German President Joachim Gauck, French President Francois Hollande, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and other officials.
“The UK delegation led by Prince Charles and his wife has also confirmed its participation in the funeral ceremony,” the report says. Former Israeli president will be buried on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
The main national memorial of Israel is located on this hill, which includes the main national cemetery of the country, where Israel’s leaders and people who gave their lives for it are buried.
Shimon Peres died on September 28 at the age of 93.
