The occupants 26 times violated the truce in the Donetsk sector, of which – 17 times with heavy weapons, according to information released at the briefing by Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, the spokesman The Presidential Administration of Ukraine for ATO issues, Joinfo.ua reports.
In the Donetsk sector, Russian-separatist combined forces made most of the shelling on positions of the ATO forces near the Donetsk airport, especially in Avdiyivka, Pisky, Opytne and the Butivka coal mine. Almost all the fire was made with heavy weapons – 82mm and 120mm mortars, and a 152mm artillery system – near Avdiyivka.
The occupants fired 179 mortar and 63 artillery shells in this area. Another shelling with use of 122mm artillery system was recorded in the northern borders of Krasnohorivka town.
In addition, the invaders fired 5 mortar shells on the outskirts of the towns of Horlivka and Zaitseve, as well as grenade launchers and small arms – near the villages of Lenine and Verhnetoretske.
The situation remains tense on the Svitlodarsk arc, but the number of enemy attacks decreased. Militants fired mortars twice and conducted shelling with use of heavy machine guns and grenade launchers.
In the Mariupol sector, fighting continues across the area. The hottest point was near the town of Mar’inka, where the invaders keep firing from a wide range of weapons – from small arms and grenade launchers to mortars and armored vehicles. Russian-occupation forces used mortars along the entire contact line in this sector. In particular, near the villages of Novohryhorivka, Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Starohnativka, Talakivka and Krasnohorivka. In total, the enemy fired 124 shells from 82mm and 120mm mortars. Near the last two villages they fired with infantry combat vehicles.
Militants often used small arms, machine guns and grenade launchers from early morning of of August 20 till midnight. Several armed provocations took place near the villages of Taramchuk, Hnutove and Novotroitske.
In total, militants 38 times opened fire in the Mariupol sector, of them – 12 times with heavy weapons and armored vehicles.
In the Luhansk sector, illegal armed groups 7 times violated the ceasefire, carrying out armed provocations mainly with grenade launchers and small arms near the villages of Zolote and Krymske. A sniper fire was recorded in the area of Novooleksandrivka village. In addition, militants fired 12 mortar shells of 82mm caliber in the neighboring Novozvanivka.
