Rio 2016: Gymnast Oleh Verniaiev wins first gold for Ukraine
Ukrainian gymnast Oleh Verniaiev has won the gold medal in the men's parallel bars competition at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.

The Ukrainian gymnast Oleh Verniaiev, 22, has won the gold medal with the result of 16.041 points, Joinfo.ua reports.

USA’s Danell Leyva won the silver medal with 15.900 points, Russia’s David Belyavskiy got 15.783 points and won the bronze medal.

Verniaiev brought the first gold medal for Ukraine at the Olympics 2016.

With the seven medals (1 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze), Ukraine’s team now holds the 23th position.

It should be recalled that Serhiy Kulish won the silver medal in the 10m Air Rifle Men’s Finals, Olga Kharlan won bronze in fencing.

The women’s sabre team consisting of Olga Kharlan, Alina Komashchuk and Olena Kravatska lost to the Russians and won siver medal on Sunday.
