The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) caught an officer of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on a bribe of $150,000, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to press center of the SBU.
“Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in the framework of criminal proceedings opened under part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, unmasked in bribery head of a department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food “, – the report says.
The official demanded $150,000 from a businessman for assistance in securing victory in the tender for the purchase of a state agricultural enterprise. Property of the enterprise, which is in the process of liquidation of debts, is located near Kharkiv city, east Ukraine.
The SBU officers jointly with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office detained an official at the parking lot of the Ministry in Kyiv downtown while she was receiveing the bribe.
The Ministry official has been detained under Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
A pre-trial investigation is underway.
It should be recalled that on July 26, detectives of the NABU detained head of board of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine Valeriy Tomilenko along with head of board of PJSC Rokytne grain enterprise on charges of state fund embezzlement.
