Addressing to Ukrainian deputies in the Verkhovna Rada, Joe Biden condemned the invasion and aggression of Russia and promised American support to Ukrainians in their struggle, Joinfo.ua reports.
According to the U.S. Vice President, in the XXI century no one is allowed to redraw the territory of another country.
“In the XXI century, the countries can not, we can not allow them to redraw the borders of the states by force. These are the basic rules,” – he stressed.
He emphasized that the failure to comply with these rules destroys the world.
“Russia has violated these rules and continues to violate them. Russia has occupied the sovereign Ukrainian territory,” – he said.
Joe Biden also recalled that the U.S. stands with Ukraine against the Russian aggression and will never recognize Russia’s attempts to annex Crimea.
The U.S. Vice President also advised to properly form the state budget for next year.
“You need to have a budget corresponding to the program of the IMF. Support the world, so that it can support you,” – he said.
Joe Biden also quoted the Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko: “And in the great new family, the family of the free, with softly spoken, kindly word remember also me.”
“I hope someday you, “with softly spoken, kindly word (will) remember also me,” – he stressed.
Ukrainian MPs met Joe Biden’s speech with applause.
