Today October 26 Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, representatives of the U.S. Department of Commerce, business leaders and representatives of the U.S. Embassy to Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference to the AP press service.
President Poroshenko told about changes and reforms, which are undertaken in Ukraine and aimed to improve business climate, particularly on serious anti-corruption efforts, judicial reform and plans to carry out transparent privatization.
“It is the right time and place to invest in Ukraine,” – Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
Ms. Minister said that the U.S. Government supported the efforts of Ukraine aimed at reforming the country and making it a full-fledged member of the world economy. “We are with you in these efforts,” – she assured.
The president announced the U.S. Government’s decision to allocate the third tranche of loan guarantees in the amount that exceeds $1 billion. “This position is a true friend and partner”, – said Poroshenko.
During the meeting Petro Poroshenko and Ms. Pritzker discussed how to use these funds to achieve effective results in reforms.
“The United States, our allies, the international financial institutions are ready to support your efforts to improve the investment climate, Ukraine’s integration into the global economy and the transition to self-sustaining growth path,” – said Ms. Pritzker.
Minister of Commerce said that her visit to Ukraine today was an example of commercial diplomacy.
