Russia banned Vira, sister of Nadiya Savchenko, Ukrainian pilot, MP and member of the PACE, on entering the country until 2020, Mark Feigin, the lawyer of Nadiya twitted today.
“Vira Savchenko just called, Nadiya’s sister. She was banned to enter Russia until 2020” – he said.
According to the lawyer, Vira was informed of the prohibition at the checkpoint Cherkovo-Melove.
“At the checkpoint Cherkovo-Melove, on the of Russian-Ukrainian border Vira Savchenko was reported the FSB has banned her entry into the Russian Federation”, – he added.
Feigin also suggested that the reason for ban is a “threat to national security”, and assured that he would protest the decision of the FSB, because Nadiya Savchenko is now devoid of the right to defense, as her sister was declared the sole witness at the trial.”
“Vera Savchenko has not been given a single document. Despite she was accompanied by the Consul of Ukraine Alexander Kovtun,” – added the lawyer.
Earlier, lawyer Mark Feigin said that Russia and Ukraine are actively discussing the issue of Nadiya Savchenko transfer to serve her sentence on the Ukrainian territory.
