Gazprom confirmed the receipt of $234 million from Naftogaz for the gas supplies to Ukraine in October and resumed transportation of gas to Ukraine after the three-months suspention, said the chairman of Gazprom Alexei Miller, Joinfo.ua reports citing Russian media.
“Today at 10:00 Gazprom has started gas supply to Ukraine. From Naftogaz of Ukraine we have received prepayment in the amount of $234 million of the agreed $500 million in October. Ukraine requested the maximum amount of supply – 114 million cubic meters per day, which corresponds with an annual 52 billion cubic meters offtake of Ukraine “, – said Miller.
On Friday, the chairman of Gazprom has told about an agreement with Naftogaz on the advance payment and the future resumption of supplies. Naftogaz later confirmed this agreement and stated that the prepayment transferred. The Ukrainian side has requested the supply amount of 2 billion cubic meters of gas in October.
The press service of Naftogaz said that, under the terms of additional agreement with Gazprom, ‘take or pay’ condition was cancelled till April 2016 and the price for the fourth quarter of the current year was set according to the reduction of the export duty.
Earlier media reported that Gazprom would begin to supply natural gas to Ukraine from October 12.
September 25 the Russian Federation, the EU and Ukraine agreed on the conditions of the new winter package for Ukraine. In particular, the Russian government has pledged to reduce the price for Ukraine in the fourth quarter of 2015 and the first quarter of 2016 to a level competitive with neighboring states, reducing the export duty.
