On October 12 the EU foreign ministers at the meeting in Luxembourg expressed deep concern about Russian air strikes in Syria and called on Russia to ‘cease immediately’, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference to The Guardian.
They also called to make the protection of civilians to be an international priority.
Federica Mogherini, the union’s foreign policy chief, called the Russian intervention a “gamechanger” that has “some very worrying elements”.
It should be recalled that Russian air forces carried out new strikes in Idlib to back-up the Assad’s offensive. Russian aviation in Syria has supported Bashar Assad’s army in the offensive in populated areas al-Tamana and Sukayk in the Idlib province. The attack has continued for two days. Russian Defense Ministry confirmed this information
Russia’s defence ministry said its planes had carried out 55 sorties in Syria in the past 24 hours and hit 53 Isis targets.
