At today’s session, the European Parliament has adopted a resolution demanding that the Kremlin urgently release the Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov and activist Oleksandr Kolchenko, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the European Parliament.
The resolution also have a requirement to free the Estonian policeman Eston Kohver. In addition, MEPs called on Russia to release all illegally detained citizens of Ukraine, including the Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadiya Savchenko.
The European Parliament “strongly condemned the gross violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and Estonia through the illegal abduction of citizens of both countries.” The resolution stresses that the Russian courts are incompetent to judge for crimes committed outside the internationally recognized territory of Ukraine.
The resolution was supported by 378 deputies, 111 voted negatively, 138 abstained.
As it is known, August 25, in Russia, the filmmaker Oleg Sentsov was sentenced to 20-year imprisonment in a penal colony. However, the Ukrainian filmmaker himself is not scared of his ‘term.’ He believes that “the era of the reign of bloody dwarf in Russia will be over earlier.”During the verdict the Ukrainians Sentsov and Kolchenko sang the national anthem of Ukraine. The men were supported by the President Petro Poroshenko. He noted that those who now are deriding the Ukrainians will soon sit in the dock.
