The letter from the PACE President, Anne Brasseur, to the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko was posted on Twitter by her lawyer Mark Feygin, Joinfo.ua reports.
“I am deeply concerned about the fact that these (the letter sent to the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov with a demand to release Nadiya Savchenko as a PACE member – Ed.), as well as other actions taken by the Assembly have so far not led to your release. Therefore, as a follow up to your letter, I will appeal once again to the Russian authorities for your release,” he wrote the head of the PACE.
Brasseur is also concerned about the transfer of the court hearings in the case of Savchenko to the city of Donetsk, Rostov Oblast, Russian Federation, and promised to appeal to the Russian authorities for addressing these concerns.
It should be recalled that on July 15, Nadiya Savchenko wrote a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, PACE President Anne Brasseur and the Head of the European Parliament Martin Schulz with a request to appeal to the Russian leadership not to transfer the court hearing in her case back to Moscow.
