According to Biden, Ukraine will receive additional $ 500 million of aid from the U.S. government for funding of training of the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the fire ground in Yavoriv, the Lviv oblast, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Committee.
“This letter was a response of the U.S. Vice President Joe Biden to the letter of Hanna Hopko with a call for tougher sanctions against Russia and its withdrawal from the SWIFT system. The MP urged ‘to support the Ukrainian people and announce tougher sanctions, including the disconnection from the SWIFT system in the event of absence of progress on observance of the cease-fire, withdrawal of heavy equipment, release of political prisoners, including Nadiya Savchenko, Sentsov, Karpyuk and others, ” the press service reported.
Biden also confirmed the U.S. government’s readiness to provide an additional $ 2 billion loan, which has already been pre-agreed in April this year.
“If Russia fails to implement its obligations under these agreements or launches new military offensives across the line of contact, the United States will increase the costs to Russia for its aggression against Ukraine. Our sanctions on Russia for its actions in Crimea will stay in place until Russia ends its occupation of Ukraine’s sovereign territory,” Biden added.
