Designers had been allocated about 80 thousand euros for creation of the logo for the G7 summit in 2014, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the German magazine Der Spigel.
The agency points out that the sum was twice higher than that in the cost sheet because of the fact that the designers had to create two versions of the logo. In February 2014, when the work just began, it was assumed that it would be a meeting of the Group of Eight, and it would be participated by Russia. However, when Moscow was expelled from the group, the designers had to redo everything.
The final version of the logo consists of seven multi-colored broken lines forming the silhouette of a mountain.
According to the estimates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the total cost of the summit was at least 200 million euros, but the Association of Taxpayers in Bavaria says there were spent 360 million.
It should be recalled that after the annexation of Crimea in June 2014, there was held the G7 summit instead of the meeting of the Group of Eight. In January 2015, in preparation for the summit in Germany, Angela Merkel ruled out the possibility of inviting Vladimir Putin to the meeting. Now the G7 includes the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Canada, USA, France, and Japan.
