It was stated by Jamie Shea, the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges, Joinfo.ua informs.
Shea made such a statement during his speech at the joint session of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Subcommittee on Security and Defense of the European Parliament in Brussels.
“A year ago we realized that we must be prepared for the worst,” said the representative of the Alliance.
“I am pleased that the EU has prepared a new package of sanctions (against Russia – Joinfo). Now the EU knows that it will do in the event of further escalation,” said Shea.
Jamie Shea also said that the existence of such a package of sanctions could play a deterrent role in the development of the conflict in the Donbas.
