Rosen Plevneliev stated that Bulgaria condemned the Russian aggression, and supported the sovereignty of Ukraine and its desire for European integration, Joinfo.ua reports.
“The Republic of Bulgaria supports the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation violates international law, violates the Constitution of Ukraine and the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. Bulgaria does not recognize and will never recognize this illegal act. Also, Bulgaria does not recognize the results of the referendum illegally organized and held by the separatists in Donetsk and Luhansk. For us, Crimea is Ukraine, and Ukraine is Europe,” Plevneliev said.
He added that the EU sanctions against Russia were linked to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. It is these agreements that should contribute to the exit from the “Donbas crisis.”
“Bulgaria supports these sanctions and will operate in support of Ukraine, pursuant to the EU sanctions. Nobody has the right, especially in Europe, to move the boundaries and occupy foreign territories by force. The future of Europe is to destroy the borders, not to move them,” Plevneliev said.
