The Ukrainian government intends to demand the arrest of Russian property overseas to compensate for the damage caused by the occupation of Crimea. It was announced by Natalia Sevostyanova, the First Deputy Minister of Justice, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to 5 Kanal.
Such a measure would be possible in the case of a positive decision of the European Court of Human Rights. "It will be the stage of just satisfaction, when we will determine the amount of compensation to be paid. Attachment of property abroad is a very effective tool. Today Russia has a lot of such assets in other countries," said Sevostyanova.
However, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Justice stressed that such a decision had to be made first.
