Azerbaijan refuses to sign Riga Summit declaration

Representative of Azerbaijan refused to sign the Riga Summit declaration because of mentioning Crimea.

At the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga held on May 22, Azerbaijan refused to sign the declaration of the meeting due Russia's annexation of Crimea. It was reported by Tyzhden with reference to Martin Schulz, the President of the European Parliament.

In addition, when answering the question about the refusal of Baku, Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, stressed that the EU accepted the position of this country, given "differentiation" of the Eastern Partnership members in accordance with their aspirations for relations with the EU.

It should be recalled that Armenia and Belarus intended to block the declaration the Eastern Partnership summit in Riga if it contained the wording "annexation of Crimea."
