The United Kingdom plans to send Ukraine a batch of non-lethal military equipment worth 850 thousand pounds (1.3 million euros). This assistance will be provided to Kyiv in the coming weeks in response to Ukraine's request, said the Ministry of Defense in London. Ukraine will receive first-aid kits, night vision devices, laptops, helmets and GPS devices.
"The UK is committed to supporting Ukraine's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity in the face of Russia's aggression," said British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon. "This gift of non-lethal equipment is designed to prevent further Ukrainian fatalities and casualties and to help improve situational awareness on the ground."
Head of the British Defense Ministry said that London's strategic goal is "to strengthen the defensive capability of the Ukrainian armed forces and build the resilience that they need."
Meanwhile, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini opposed the appeals of both Houses of the U.S. Congress for the supply of lethal defensive weapons to the Ukrainian army.
