The Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, who has been on a hunger strike in the Russian jail since December last year, started having problems with her kidneys. It was reported by the TV channel 112 Ukraine with reference to the detainee's lawyers Nicholai Polozov and Ilya Novikov. According to them, Savchenko continues to hunger strike and "so far" is moving independently, DW news agency reports.
"Her health is poor. Yesterday, she was visited by the members of the Public Monitoring Commission, they found her in a rather serious condition," the lawyer said.
Meanwhile, on March 2, the defense of Savchenko received a reply from Ministry of Justice within the consideration of the appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) to take urgent steps to review the case. The statement the Ministry of Justice reads that "the health of Savchenko is satisfactory".
