At a meeting with Sumomo Chakrabarti, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said he was ready to solve the issue of withdrawal of the Ukrainian army from Debaltseve within a day. According to him, it can be done against guarantees of Belarus.
"Today, there is a very serious situation after the Minsk Agreement regarding Debaltseve. Belarus could play an important role in resolving this conflict, if the parties involved in it, wanted it," Lukashenko said.
"Today, we offered the Ukrainian and another party involved in the conflict, to resolve the problem of Debaltseve in one day, if it was wanted by Ukraine, Russia, DPR and LPR," the Belarusian leader said.
According to him, Belarus can take the role of a mediator and guarantor of Ukrainian troops" withdrawal from the "boiler". "We are ready not only to be a mediator, but honorably stop the conflict in the region of Debaltseve and withdraw all Ukrainian troops against the guarantees that they will never fight again. And if someone is stressed about the weapons possessed by the Ukrainian military today, besieged in Debaltseve, we are ready to take these weapons on the territory of Belarus. Thus, it will never be used in hostilities," Lukashenko said.
He added that it had to be wanted by the parties of the conflict. "If lives of thousands of innocent, besieged people are a priority for them, we are ready to do it in one day," Lukashenko said.
"Only if the "protagonists" in Debaltseve and people involved in this conflict are interested. But you should know that there are a lot of different interests, hence there are the different approaches," the Belarusian leader said.
