The war in Ukraine is unacceptable, especially because it is a fratricidal war between Christians, said Pope Francis during a general audience at the Vatican. He prayed for the souls of the victims and called to end the violence once again, reports Joinfo.ua.
After his meeting with pilgrims, Pope Francis recalled that the situation in Ukraine is getting worse, and there are more victims because of the escalation of the conflict.
The pontiff urged to pray for the victims, mostly civilians, and their families. He once again called to insist on the resumption of dialogue, which is "the only possible way to bring about peace and concord in that martyred land" by all means, including the support of the international community.
Francis added, "Brothers and sisters, when I hear the words 'victory' or 'defeat', I feel a great pain, a great sadness in my heart. They are not the right words. The only right word is peace! This is the only right word!"
After this, the Pope appealed to the Ukrainians, "Think about this, this is a war among Christians! You have your Baptism, you are fighting among Christian! Think about this, this scandal!"
