During his working visit to the Zhytomyr region President Poroshenko transferred more than 150 pieces of military equipment and weapons, manufactured or remanufactured by the enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine to the military of the Armed Forces. It was reported by Joinfo.ua referring to the press service of the head of the state.
At the military airfield in the Ozerne village, the president presented vouchers for equipment, weapons and small arms, as well as two MiG-29 and two SU-27 military aircraft.
The techniques that have been transferred to the needs of the army include infantry fighting vehicles, transporters, KrAZ Spartan military jeeps, automatic grenade launchers, and assault rifles.
Petro Poroshenko stressed that the defenders of the motherland should be provided with all necessary facilities.
"I believe that 2015 will be a year of our victories and a year of peace. To achieve this we should have a strong, well-trained, and well-equipped patriotic Ukrainian army," Poroshenko said.
The President also thanked the volunteers and expressed his belief that the involvement of civil society activists in the work of the Defense Ministry will promote the speedy modernization of both the authorities and the army as a whole.
The President also handed out state awards to the military.
