Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has advised Russian President Vladimir Putin to apologize for the Malaysian airliner Boeing-777 crash, which occurred in July in the sky over the Donetsk region. The dialogue between two leaders was held at the Summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
Abbott reminded the Russian leader that in 1988 the US mistakenly shot down an Iranian passenger plane. Washington pleaded guilty, apologized and paid compensation to the victims. The Premier advised the Russian president to follow the example of the US authorities, writes the Australian issue of Daily Telegraph.
Australian Prime Minister also told Vladimir Putin that according to the Australian intelligence, Boeing-777 was destroyed by a missile from the launcher, which came to Ukraine from Russia. He adds that if this information is confirmed, it will cause a "very serious problem".
