Angelina Chendarova, a disabled girl called on the MPs from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada. She urged the deputies to stop discrimination of the disabled children in Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports with the reference to censor.net.ua.
“Hello, my name is Lina. I am a disabled of the second group, I have three fingers on each hand and no leg,” – with this words Angelina began her speech today.
Lina told that she lived in orphanage for the most of her life. Parents abandoned her on the fourth day after her birth. Angelina told that she didn’t see Santa Claus until she was nine, because at the New Years celebrations she was forced to sit behind the senior children so, that she would not be seen, because she was a disabled.
Lina also said that at the present time disabled children can’t go to usual schools with other children. She told that her dream was to be a stage-director. But the university rejected her application even having not read it, because they saw she was a disabled. They said that the studying suggests two year choreography course.
Lina said that disabled children don’t have future in Ukraine. Chendarova believes that for the sake of these children a society must change and especially in education. Therefore, she urged everyone to change discriminating laws. She even specified an article of the education law of Ukraine, which must be changed.
“I wish we had a future after these boarding houses because the majority of children with disabilities have no future,” – said Angelina.
The deputies listened to her, many of them with the tears welling in their eyes.
“I am pride of being acquainted with this brave girl. Angelina Chendarova – a girl with a disability. Today, she has performed in Parliament. I think that her words were like a cold shower for many of us, as a digression into a parallel reality, where the children live with special needs,”- said on his Facebook page the Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Ukraine Mykola Kuleba.
